What makes a good story? And what makes a good book? These are the questions that writer-director-producer-actor-blogger jamal bhabha seeks to answer in his newest film The Three Levels of Self-Awareness.
The Three Levels is a movie about two friends who work for a small team of people creating a new kind of teleportation device. They’re on vacation, and they are all just trying to relax. They are all trying to have a good time, but because they’re all working so hard to make this thing work, they can’t relax, and they start to get stressed out. That’s when the three levels of self-awareness kick in.
And that is the first level. You know that feeling where you start to notice how people are acting differently? Thats the first level of self-awareness. You get that feeling when you take for granted how others act because you don’t notice how they act. That feeling is the third level. You start to realize that other people are just trying to have a good time. You start to realize that theyre just having fun.
That level of self-awareness is like the first level of self-awareness. It’s like a little bit of self-awareness when you realize you’re having a good time and you want to have a good time with your friends.
Jamal is the kind of character you want to enjoy playing because he has a lot of fun and his personality is so refreshing. But in a lot of cases, you want to stay away from him. In a lot of cases, when you look at the game, you want to be able to say, “I want him to be fun!”. Because he is fun.
When I played Jamal, I didn’t want to play any character who was this difficult to like. I wanted to play a character that was fun.
